Men El Babooj Lal Tarboosh - من البابوج للطربوش

Literal Translation: "From the Babooj to the Tarboosh" - Babooj (بابوج) was the old style turkish traditional shoe (pointy and old), and the tarboosh (طربوش) was the old style turkish red had with hanging black threads.  Therefore, "Men El Babooj lal Tarboosh" metaphorically means from head to toe.

Sample Conversation:

Person 1: "I went to the beach yesterday and spent 5 hours under the sun! I am literally burnt"

Person 2: "you look so red Men el Babooj Lal Tarboosh (from head to toe)!"

"Fakas": Egyptian and Lebanese Slang, does not mean anything in the Arabic language and NO it does not relate to sending a FAX :) , was used in the 90s and before as 'eftakas' to refer to creating something new but recently it became so wideley used as an indication of something not cool, done poorly or messed up.

 

Sample conversation 1:

Person 1: "Are you still planning to come watch the game tonight"

Person 2: "No man my plan 'Fakaset' have to go to work"

 

Sample conversation 2:

Person 1: "This guy takes me to those strange places and meet weird people"

Person 2: "I told you before he is 'Fakess' "

 

Sample conversation 3:

Person 1: "I am not sure I will continue working on this shop idea"

Person 2: "What? The idea 'Hatefkes' from you?"
