El Wara2 Boot - الورق بوط

In a famous card game in the Levant called "Baasra" (باصرة), you gain points by winning some specific cards, and also by winning the most number of cards.  The game being a 2 player game, you may reach a stage, where both players have gathered the same number of cards i.e. 26 cards each (the deck of cards being 52 cards).

In such a situation, we would say: "el wara2 boot" (الورق بوط), meaning both players ended up with exactly the same number of cards each.

The word "Boot"  (بوط) is of unknown origin.

"Ma thezzo, we2if 3a chwar" - Lebanese Slang: translates literally into "don't shake him, he's standing on the edge of the abyss" and refers to a situation where one shouldn't encourage a person to do an uncertain move, while they's already in a critical situation.

Sample Conversation:

Person 1: I think that he has to go and protest to his boss about his unpaid overtime

Person 2: Ma thezzo, we2if 3a chwar! After coming in drunk to the office, last week. he's more likely to be fired if he says more than Hello to his boss...
